Gospel teaches us to live a life worthy of the word. We do read the Bible, we do praise and worship then what else is meant by putting on Christ? Being Christian means being like Christ. The New Testament talks about ‘Christian Ethics’ which tells that we are to be diligent, humble, affectionate, persistent in prayers, peaceful (Rom 12:9-19) and primarily be loving towards one another. God wants love not just in words or speech but in action (1Jn 4:18). When we rejoice in being His children then we also need to realize that we have certain duties to fulfill too. For if we live, we live for the Lord and if we die, we die for the Lord (Rom 14:8). Even when we are into our daily works we can try fulfilling these commands, for when we follow them we follow Christ. For when the Lord sees his children making efforts of getting close to him, he helps them move on and climb up the ladder. Draw near to him and he will draw near to you (Jm 4:8). It is our prime duty to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord. As the word says- ‘you are not your own, for you are bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body’ (1Cor 6:20). We are God’s sanctuary and it is very important for us to realize our own value in Him, the purpose of our creation and our purpose of being alive. Hence, we need to submit ourselves to God (Jm 4:7). Purify your heart and humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you (Jm 4:10). When we confess our sins, He is faithful to cleanse us (1 Jn 3:9).
So, submit yourselves to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling and make you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless and with great joy (Jude 1:24).
‘Let us grow in every way into Him who is the head- Christ’ (Eph 4:15). Amen.
