Short Stories
The battle was raging. It was a fierce battle. Cannons were going off, grenades were landing all around us. We were deep in the trenches. The battle had been going on for days now. It seemed like it would never end. One of our soldiers finally just jumped out of the trench and ran out onto the battlefield. I tried to hold'em back but they broke free. They were just running, screaming. I tried to crawl on the ground to get to them, but they wouldn't come back. So I retreated back to the trench before I got killed. Each of the other soldiers tried to call them back, but to no avail. Finally, I seen them go down. Our hearts were grieved because there was nothing we could do.
The sound of war got closer and closer and we fell under heavy attack. It went on into the wee hours of the night. It was on every side. We could hear the enemy yelling at us to retreat. It was now coming from behind us. We were being attacked on every side. As the enemy closed in, we closed in the gap within the trench. Now we were shoulder to shoulder. Back to back. The smell of death was in the air. A cloud of fear hung over us. We could hardly even breath, it was so thick. We encouraged each other to hold on. We knew help was coming. It had been days since we had gotten word though. A song erupted in the midst of the battle and we all began to sing, "Victory is mine, victory is mine, victory today is mine. I told satan to get thee behind, victory today is mine. The sun had begun to rise in the sky. We could hear a sound in the distant. It was our help. Airplanes began to fly overhead. As they began to rain down their heavy artillery on the enemy, we began to press and drive the enemy back. The battle was still fierce but victory was in the air.
When the battle was over, we came out of our trenches. We got to go home for awhile and refresh ourselves and spend time with our families. Before long, we got word another battle was coming. So off to the trenches again. The song that was still on our lips in the last battle was the song on our lips at the beginning of this one. Victory was in the air.
*God gave me this vision when I was going through with my son. I could see sometimes, we get weary in the battle. When we begin to speak contrary to God's word and speak doubt, then we have just run out onto the battlefield. We are at the mercy of the enemy and risk being killed. Even when others try to encourage us, if we don't listen and get back to the trenches, then we die. Maybe not physically, but spiritually, and the devil just won. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I want to encourage those out there going through a battle right now, keep fighting. Keep speaking God's word. Stay in the trench which is the Word of God. Encourage one another. Listen to one another. don't give up. Help is on the way.
To all those prayer warriors out there, keep praying. When God wakes you up in the wee hours of the night, it's for a reason. Someone's life is on the line. This may be it. This may be the time they lose it and run out onto that open field and fall under attack and not recover. It's time to arise and fight for one another. It's time to arise and pray like never before. Your prayers are their help. That's what God uses. Your prayers.
Praise is another weapon. It may be that song that brings victory to the situation. It shakes heaven and God comes down. It changes the atmosphere. It drives back fear and doubt. It drowns out the voice of the enemy.
God gave me a slogan to hold onto I got from this journal. Keep calm and carry on. Don't panic. Stay close to one another. Pray for one another. Victory is in the air. We are more that conquerors in Chirst. Greater is He who is in us than he that is in the world. God bless.
