Gospel
In the books of the Gospel, Our Lord tells two different parables. The one:
Matthew 13:24
The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man who sowed good seed in his field: 25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26But when the plant was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? from where then has it tares? 28He said unto them, An enemy has done this. The servants said unto him, Will you then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while you gather up the tares, you root up also the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather you together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Then also:
Luke 15:8
Or what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she loses one piece, does not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she finds it?
In both parables we've been likened to precious things. Silver is known to shine. If you light a lamp in its vicinity, it shines and reflects the light. Now, probably, in a house where there may be other non-silver coins, you would know which amongst them is silver becuase it shines.
Likewise, we as children of God are originally shiny. When the light of the world (Christ and His word) came and shone on earth, its intent was to note those who could accept the light and reflect it even to other parts of this earth. So now as we carry out our duties, it is very clear that this is a man reflecting God's light or not.
However, since we are not only silver coins in an otherwise empty room; Rather being amongst other fake replicas of the evil one trying to make us conform to his standards and not ours, so that when the word is shone on us we are unable to reflect it; we the more go down. We're being covered everyday by dusty behaviours that hide away our shiness and reflection when the light is directed towards us. We, everyday, are being covered by huge covers that hide us away from the light.
Moreso, like the wheat in the field, amongst tares of the evil one, we are being drawn to behave more like the world (conformance) than we are being transformed. We have a battle to fight! A war of faith, otherwise we will die.
Brethren and sisters, let us not allow the devil and his agents to make us think we are like him. Rather, know that you whom God planted in his field are the wheat and you ought to behave like so. No amount of time, pressure, trouble, hunger, poverty, riches or anything can change what is good to be evil. Hence we are confident that if we stay in the right place and not let dust on our surfaces; if we remember that he decided not to uproot them (that are evil) lest we that are his should be damaged in the process; if we do that we will be welcomed in heaven at the day of judgment.
Remember, all this that happens need not scare us. We are amongst wickedness, but we strive to remain in our righteousness through Christ our Lord. Therefore we are under His grace always! In Jesus Christ's name, Amen!
