Imagine...
One day you are in the library of heaven and there are rows and rows of shelves of books.
And for eons you have avoided "that" section
Jesus shows up as you are standing in the row that you are sure has the darkest of all stories...yours.
Maybe He gets a latte from the in store coffee shop.
(How do you know there isn't one?)
Or maybe the library analogy doesn't work for you.
Find one that does.
He sits down and you begin to read the book of your life...
and it is full of "I never knews"
...you know...the scenes behind "those scenes"
and "I had no idea that was going on"s
and... there are a few "I cannot bear the memory of THAT"s.
You glance up and look Jesus in the face.
The look wasn't the one you were expecting, was it.
Or did you expect to see tears in His eyes?
The "that was SO close, and I am SO glad you didn't throw it all away after all" look in His eyes.
He is "mean enough" to allow the weight of it all to sink in.
You come to the point in the story you are at right now...
And your heart skips a beat.
And....are there any words for what goes through you?
Do there need to be any words?
One look into those eyes...if you can bring yourself to look at them...says it all...answers and raises a thousand questions all at once.
You know the verses about "he shall wipe away all tears from their eyes".
It is almost certain to be sometime after we have been in heaven for a while...what was... what could have been... what we allowed... what we refused... will probably pass before us.
And...perhaps this is the marvel...
Not, that there is no condemnation... (He told you that repeatedly)
The marvel is...that there was a story after all.
And that He stayed with it...with you...through it all.
Perhaps the journey is as important to Him as our arrival.
Perhaps He loves stories that much...that He is writing and intertwining thousands...
Millions of stories.
Why?
Maybe there are as many sides to God as there are people. And angels...
And perhaps He wants show a side of Himself through how He relates to you that would not be reflected in anyone or anything else.
So...you both sit there...sipping your lattes.
And there is an indescribable look in His eyes
(it is a look just for you...just between Him and you)
And on your face...and in your heart...is
Adoration.
Amazement.
Awe.
