I think long and hard about the awesome responsibility we assume when we choose to wear the mantle and accept the label..."Christian Writer". I am 'unworthiness' personified...in its purest form. I 'flip-flop' between feeling the warmth of God's hand on mine as I write...and wondering if it will 'sell'.
I do not have the faintest idea as to God's 'selection' process. I am an unlikely candidate to do what I do, and sadly, those who know me BEST also wonder.
But then, why FISHERMEN? Why TAX COLLECTORS? Why HARLOTS, and the despised dregs of Galilean 'society'? Why does the PERFECT so willingly associate WITH,and depend UPON the IMPERFECT? Why was Jacob, a cheater, chosen to father twelve sons for which the tribes of God's chosen people would be named? Why was the murdering, adulterous, bloodstained David called a "man after God's own heart"? Why was Saul of Tarsus, persecutor of the faithful, picked to be God's anointed? Why does unschooled, unskilled, untrained Howard L. Pierce write inspirational poetry?
Being neither apostle, disciple, minister, or prophet...YET with HIS touch on my life, as THEY, I have the same choices that the Sons of Zebedee had. I can 'follow' or I can 'go away sorrowful' if I choose to glorify self and protect 'status quo'.
It is my desire NOT to EARN or DESERVE a place in His service, but rather to simply 'follow'. To be diligent and bold and blessed by His hand as it rests firmly on the ministry of Christian Writers.

I loved your writing. It expresses, I think, what so many Christian Writers feel. Thanks for bringing up those who have gone before us who also were considered unlikely beacons.
