Enjoyed, a quiet picnic there,
Beheld beauty, in nature plenty,
Cloudless sky, bright blue high,
Grass greener, than green had been,
Water rowing awhile, smiles in style.
Enjoyed, a quiet picnic there,
But behold again, closer to nature’s ken,
Hear muffled violence, from our presence,
Some screaming, beneath our blanketing,
And bird tethered, in trap weathered wrap.

Seeing a seagull wrestling with a plastic bag wrapped about its feet, inhibiting free flight, made me realize our picnic can bring other life panic, including life flattened by our blankets.
