Current evolutionary theory would have us believe that the universe, including you and me, came about by chance combinations of chemical elements. This theory would have us believe that this chance encounter took place millions, if not billions, of years ago and that everything we see is a product of blind physical processes.

Consider for a moment how differently we would view our history, and our current condition, if we would simply believe what the Bible tells us about our origins instead of swallowing the evolutionist’s anti-God rhetoric. This would certainly have a profound effect on the way we view our existence, our purpose, and our future.

The Bible reveals that God created the universe and everything in it…including us, in a very short period of time. It also tells us that it has not been millions, or billions, of years since creation…only thousands.

---There would be no god-myths before the story of the true God. Atheists claim that the belief in God, and Christianity later, evolved from myths created by heathen people before science began to explain everything. However, biblically this would be reversed. The biblical story, being the true story, came first and the myths were fabricated later…based loosely on the truth. Instead of accepting the account of Creation as it happened, mankind has developed its own version of the story to better fit its own desires.

---Since God created us in the manner the Bible describes, there was no time when man could not communicate with man in an intelligible manner. We didn’t start with grunts, crude cave drawings, and sign language and gradually learn to talk and write. We began as upright walking, talking, thinking, and reasoning human beings. We were fully capable of relationships with each other and with God.

---Since God instilled mankind with morals at creation, our ideas of right and wrong could not be said to be something that evolved over time by trial and error. If morals were not learned through a process of figuring out what works, then they must have been given to us in a finished form.

---Since God pronounced everything “very good” when He created it, everything that exists now is but a shadow of what it was in its original state. Even science alludes to the fact that things are running down, not getting better. This means that our ability to think and reason may have been superior in the past to what it is now. It also means that ours sense of morality is not improving the further away we get from the source.

---Since our history is actually much shorter than evolutionary science would have us believe, mankind cannot count on having thousands, millions, or billions of years ahead of us. Much of that hope is based on the assumption that the universe has been around for millions or billions of years and has at least as much time left. However, if the universe (and thus the earth) is much younger than that, then it didn’t take as long as is supposed for the deterioration we see to have taken place.

To what conclusions does this lead us?

Biblically, God created everything perfect. We have actually ‘devolved’ from what we once were in the beginning. The idea that we are getting better as a race is false. Sin is taking its toll on the Creation that God perfectly fashioned.

Secondly, our time may be shorter on this earth than we think. If this is the case, we should ponder the weightier matters of life. Why are we here? Where are we going?

And the biggest question of all: how can I be right with God?
