Taming The Taskmaster
IT IS ENOUGH
There is an overpowering taskmaster in this created world of ours. He cannot be bribed, threatened, cajoled or influenced in any way. He is deaf, dumb and blind in his exercise of control and power over us. He inflicts his irresistible restraints and undeviating power on our bodies without mercy, without partiality. His name is “Time”, and his venom is released upon the children of Adam and all that was placed under his authority.
For us who are the chosen, the elect of God, purchased by the blood of Jesus through the foreknowledge of Father God, we stand now removed, elevated, released from the clutches of Time’s viselike grip. We are out of range now, hearing the loud, sharp “Snap!” of his whip upon flesh, sensing our skin’s reaction to the external passions; but where is the expected sting? We know the whip, the braided leather coming from the same hide God used to cover our father Adam and mother Eve so long ago. What is it that is so strikingly different now? Our covering; it is now and forevermore the blood of our Lord Jesus! We can feel the soreness of the bruises upon our flesh, but …
Color! Overwhelming vivid, crisp, brilliant colors of a spectacular spectrum never seen by our ‘old man’ eyes! So captivated are we now by the overwhelming light [of Truth] we lose flesh senses in the spirit-sensory overload. No flesh pain can persist in the midst of this illumination. No echoes of the cries and complaints vibrate in our ears; there is but the prayerful warmth of communion, with the subtle and transcendent cacophony of heavenly sounds like flowing water coming from the Throne Room and its surroundings. We can hear the voice of our Great High Priest as He intercedes for us before His Father and our Father. We can smell the fragrance of the incense that is the prayers of His saints, our brothers and sisters, as they waft into His abode. We can feel the pressure of conflict and comfort upon our redeemed flesh; we send out the Spirit through our prayers to those we recognize in our spirits as needing His touch, while receiving the caress of His Spirit sent from others recognizing our need. We feel complete, balanced, whole, yet not isolated or of separated self: there are no ‘others’ as there is no ‘me’; it is ‘us’, ‘we’, all of one heart [for Christ Jesus], one mind [determined to follow His will], and of one spirit [the blood connecting us all together].
Resurrection is a flesh phenomenon. It is flesh receiving Life again; it is corruption putting on incorruption. It is not an identity change but rather a residence change. It is not a concern for us now, for our Life is now hidden with Christ in God, now reconnected and eternally relational with God our Father and Jesus our betrothed. At the time of Father’s choosing, for His good purpose and pleasure, we shall be changing our dwelling place; we shall be given incorruptible bodies. For now, Spirit and Truth suffice. It is enough that we are His and He is ours; it is enough that we belong to one another as the united Bride. We witness the Lord’s wedding in preparation even as we speak. It is enough for now to simply do His will, fix our eyes on Him and trust Him. . . it is enough.
