Spirituality of Man
Now that we have submitted to the relationship with God and said yes Lord I am ready to be used of you and willing to make the necessary sacrifices. God began to transform us from a natural being only to a spiritual being too. We might say how is that possible? It comes with the understanding that God is and he is a reward for those that diligently seek him. We have to put on Christ and accept His Spirit as our guide to bring things to our remembrance as we hear the Word, study the Word, and practice doing the Word. God has to be found out by man. He knows us and the way we take but we have to search God out to know the more of Him. God is much more than our little finite minds can conceive or imagine. We have to take an exploration journey to find every area of god before we leave this earth. God cannot and will not be reduced to a building and chairs. God is still God when we leave those earthly building whatever the size.
Isaiah 31:3 now the Egyptians are men and not God; and their horses flesh and not Spirit. When the Lord stretch out his hand both he that help shall fall and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together. In our flesh we put so much trust in things that don’t matter. We make gods of men. Isaiah 40:6-8 the voice said, cry, and he said; what shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field. The grass withered, the flower of the field. The grass withered, the flower faded, because the Spirit of the Lord blow upon it; surely the people is grass. The grass withers, the flower fades but the Word of our God shall stand forever.
Jesus in Matthew 16:17 told Simon Barjona that flesh and blood did not reveal who he was, but His Father in heaven revealed to Peter who Jesus was, thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Peter received what God told him in his Spirit man. Man’s response to God in the flesh; always deny Christ. The flesh when relied on causes man to be carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart is established with grace; not with meats which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. Do good and communicate with God continually on every day. We have to rely on God’s Spirit to fill our inner man. Our inner man is that spiritual place where no one goes but God. It is that place where God is well pleased.
God’s Spirit in us is the discerner of His Word. We cannot discern God’s Word except His Spirit breathes on it to reveal his heart. II Timothy 3:16-17 all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. We also must allow the Word to dwell in our hearts that our Spirit man would be edified.
The Word reveals who God is. At first the Disciples had Jesus with them in the flesh, but after He died and sent the Holy Ghost they filled their hearts with the Word He was. The Disciples heard him speak, they saw His wonderful works but what kept them after he was gone? Jesus had fed them spiritual manna. They felt his power and came to recognize the truthfulness of his claims about himself. When we come to know God, it is through His Spirit working in us. It is the Devil that comes to hinder our belief. We must apprehend the person and work of Jesus to come in God’s fullness to have what we need to be spiritually apt in a fleshly body. It was only after Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection that the Disciples came under the power of the Holy Spirit that helped them understand the spiritual nature of the kingdom of God and of the Messiah as King.
Did the Disciples have shortcomings as we do today in our grasping of who Jesus really is? Yes they did; and man today also in some cases; does not believe he is who he is. Many things happen in our lives as the spiritual man comes alive in us. No matter whom we are or how many names we are called in the earth we still have a part of us that yearns to be filled. That is the spiritual man. The spiritual man is ruled by the Spirit of God. We don’t know the way we take. Jesus in St. John 3:8 describes the Spirit as a wind. The wind blows where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof but cannot tell whence it comes or wither it goes so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.
That state of spirituality is the state of being spiritual, of beings of a spiritual character and spiritual minded. It consists of being spiritual, not material but incorporeal things. The spiritual nature of man is distinguished from the physical. To be spiritual is to be refined from evil things, not sensual. It pertains to the spiritual state that brings purity of thought, mind and heart controlled and inspired by divine spiritual revelation of the Spirit keep all of our thought process pure, holy.
Spirituality is the indwelling of the Spirit of God. It is time we the people of God give ear to what the Spirit is saying; both low and high, rich and poor together. We are to speak and when we speak it is to be with wisdom and the mediation of our heart should be of understanding. We are to speak and say what the Word says about every one of our conditions. The spirituality of man is not changed rather they are rich or poor. We do not boast in riches because it’s not wealth we trust in.
The redemption of a man’s soul is precious. We have been given eternal life forever with God. But wise men die likewise the fool and the brutish man. They perish and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is that their houses shall continue forever and their dwelling places to all generation; they call their land after their own names, being in honor perish with their riches. A man’s wealth affects them in their spirituality if they are not led by God. God redeemed David’s soul from death forever and the power of the grave.
The spirituality of man causes them to rejoice when they receive a blessing. We have to get our souls blessed while we live for at death we take nothing with us. The spirituality of man cast off foolishness in the heart. The fool has said in his heart there is no God. Corrupt are they and they have done abominable iniquity. There is none that do good no not one. God often looks down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any that did understand their spirituality and did seek the Lord. He found that every one of them is gone back, they are all together become filthy; there is none that doeth good; no not one. Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge who; eat up my people as they eat bread who have not called upon God.
There are those that take the spirituality of God and make a mockery of it. They do not fear God as their father the Devil did not either in his heart. They have sold their souls for a piece of the world that do not belong to them anyway. God despises sin. Salvation is given to man that the spirituality of man would come alive in the heart. Sin has had a grip on man that can only be loosed with them coming to God and fully trusting him. The spirituality of man by God’s grace is the source of spiritual gifts. The Holy Ghost is what employs the agency of operation of those gifts in the life of man. Spirituality ensures one of the strength to overcome the influences of corrupt carnal mindedness. We receive a new spirit mind when we come to Christ and grow in His Word.
Spirit mindedness is that disposition and resolution implanted in the mind by the Holy Spirit. Man is called to willingly and gladly incline to love, delight in, and to attend spiritual things. The spiritual minded highly appreciate spiritual blessings to pursue spiritual objectives; to be led by spiritual motives and in all respects to allow the temple of the purified heart to control and direct his life. The reward is spiritual joy and a life of good report. The spirituality of man brings peace, great and enduring good, love and devotion to God. We have an indifference to worldly good though. We have a thirst for heavenly things spiritually. Romans 8:6, to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. We all have that spiritual rock that subjects us to follow Christ. We are to be stable, our hearts is fixed, wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times and strength of salvation. The fear of the Lord is his treasure. The spirituality of man helps us to endure to the end that we may be saved. Let us hold forth the profession of our faith.
When man’s spirituality is intact; their whole life changes to be like God. There is a distinct character change, decision making is made with a prayer to our Father God cease its activities, no longer are we so easily beguiled, because our soul is stable. Our heart has begun to exercise righteousness rather than exercising covetous practices that cause our children to even be cursed. James 1:25, but whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty and continue therein, he being not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed indeed. To get God’s best we must come out of a natural realm into a spiritual realm of the Spirit of God.
