Be Ready In Season And Out Of Season

Acts 20:24 – But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, in order that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.

The Apostle Paul had an incredible ministry that took him to the entire continent sharing the gospel from Jerusalem to round about Illyricum, Romans 15:19, and that took him only about eleven years. He had a successful ministry where he declared in Acts 20:24 that he did not consider his life of any account as dear to himself, that in order he may finish the course of the preaching of the gospel.

In 1 Corinthians 9:16 Paul said woe to him if he did not preach the gospel. Sharing the gospel was a very intimate ministry for him as he thrived to preach the gospel wherever he went. He had such a great passion for souls that in 2 Corinthians 4:10-11 he said that he was always carrying in his body the death of Jesus, that the life of Jesus might be manifested in his body; for he was constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus sake, that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in his mortal flesh; that he identify that sharing the gospel is his ultimate sacrifice.

Paul was willing to die for the sake of the gospel and he went the extra length to demonstrate that by what he said in 2 Corinthians 4:10-11. He had such a compassion for souls that in Romans 1:16 he said that he was not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believed. He lived to share the gospel after the Damascus Road encounter with Jesus in Acts 9.

Do we possess such passion and compassion for souls, that we are willing to go an extra mile to share the gospel? Do we live and breathe like Paul with such compassionate desire to see souls saved? Do our lives demonstrate such deep love for people that we are willing to even die for the gospel sake? Paul said he did not consider his life of any account as dear to himself, in order that he may finish the race for the ministry which he received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:24.

Compassion for souls comes from the Spirit of God. We must pray daily for our loved ones and others, that the gospel will be available to them. We must emulate Paul’s example to love people dearly, that we are willing to lay down our lives for Jesus. The gospel we shared was worth the sacrifice, as we see souls in heaven and they will always live eternally. They will thank us when they see us there with them in paradise.

Paul had such a compelling message for the people. We must be on fire to share the way Paul did. The message of Jesus Christ is urgent for us to share as our Lord is coming very soon and the gospel needs to be at every door-step, so that we can fulfil Matthew 24:14 that the gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the ends of the world, and then Jesus can come back. We must be excited about Jesus coming and we must be excited about sharing Christ. We need to fulfil our ministry and we need to preach the gospel.

Our Lord’s return will come like a thief in the night, and we must always be ready and alert to His coming so that we will not be ashamed when He comes back. We can only be ready for His coming when the gospel has reached to every far corner of the earth. We are the conduits for Christ. Everyone of us needs to share the gospel and fulfils the scripture that the gospel will be preached to the ends of the earth and then the end will come. Do you see the urgency of the gospel being preached? Be ready for the trumpet sound and just as we live daily, one day at a time, we need to watch and pray one day at a time for our Lord’s return. Be the bride that is ready for the bridegroom and Jesus is waiting for us.
