Psalm 80: 14, 18 and 19:
We beseech You, O God, look down from Heaven and visit this vine, so we will not go back from You: quicken us and we shall call upon Your Name. Turn us again O Lord, God of hosts, cause Your face to shine and we shall be saved.
A Prayer for America
Give us the want to want to repent
and let this prayer to Your Throne
be sent by every American heart:
O God, we’ve wandered
from You so far away,
we are callously heavy with sin.
There remains but a faint recall
of Your warming Presence within.
The apparitions we’ve chased
have all disappeared and we
wonder in amazement,
How did we get here?
We are weakened, hanging on to life,
quiet at last enough to remember
how warm and how full and
how preciously tender
is Your Presence, when in
Your Presence we lived.
We want to come back,
O Lord, please forgive.
How comforting, how reassuring is
Your promise that
when we confess, You gladly forgive.
We want, once again,
to live close to You, bathed,
clean and refreshed by Heavenly Dew.
Lord, we never shall forget
that whatever sins
we’ve traveled through,
You haven’t left us yet.
Promises true, pure and siren,
up close to You we are Heavenly clean;
Freed, loosed from the weight of
our sins. Restored, alive,
in Your Presence again.
O God, do not cast us away,
give us the want to
to want to
repent,
today!
