Babylon, o Babylon

I watched the pieces fall away
I watched them tumble down
Billowing in a cloud of steel dust and bone chips
The towers, the towers, they have fallen
And none are there who can rebuild them

Babylon, o Babylon, your children are crying
Your men are weak and your women barren
Your crops lie dead in the field
Your storehouses are desolate and dark
Your roadways are littered with debris

Babylon, o Babylon, your people are dying
The towers, the towers, they have fallen
And none are there to rebuild them
Wherefore shall we go? What then shall we do?
Who will shelter us from this madness?

The rocks, they cry out in broken anguish
The trees lay wrecked twisted torn
The oceans fill with blood and choke on death
The sky is afire
Even the moon, the moon is falling, breaking, dark

Babylon, o Babylon, your time is ending
Your ease and comfort forgotten
Your knowledge gives you no comfort
Nature destroyed your serenity

Even the stars have fallen, dark, forgotten
Where will you hide?
Islands sank into the sea
Mountains fell and valleys filled
The earth weeps in pain

Babylon, o Babylon, you have but one task left

You have to burn.

And I have to watch.
