Treasure
Jerusalem headline: Jesus, the King of Kings, gives up His throne for lost treasure. Here's the full story...
There once was a King, a King of much glory. Long ago this King had made everything and everything within His Kingdom was His. Yet He still longed for one particular "peculiar treasure" that had been lost long ago. So one day He decided to go on a treasure hunt. He began to dig in His field until He found His treasure. It was a mess, hardly even recognizable from the original He had made. Only now there was a ransom note attached to it. It said, "In order to redeem this treasure it will cost you everything you have". In reading the note, a glimmer appeared in His eye, as if losing everything was something He almost seemed eager to do. Not considering the cost to be too high He joyfully went back and told everyone the good news. The poor and needy began to dance in the streets sharing in the good news that the lost treasure was now found; but those within His own royal courts began to grumble and complain. They tried to stop Him knowing this meant they'd have to leave the castle but nothing could stop Him. He sold his royal garments, laid down his royal crown, and took off his royal jewels. He sold it all, until He had nothing left. Now homeless He too appeared poor, afflicted, and with much sorrow. As He left the city no longer were there cheers of joy but rather crying of deep sorrow and jeers of disgust by those who spat upon Him. He alone made His way out to the place where His treasure was buried. When He arrived He knelt down to pick us up from the dirt and said, "I have purchased you, you are My beloved treasure. I have found you, come with Me and I will wash you as white as snow."
"And they shall be Mine, says the Lord of hosts, in that day when I publicly recognize and openly declare them to be My jewels (My special possession. My peculiar treasure)." Malachi 3:17 Amplified version.
Lord, thank you for considering me such a treasure that you would give up your life of royalty for me.
