Have you ever read the Mayflower Compact. I thought I had in high school but I read a article the other day that compared what is in our tax payer funded school text books and what the actual document says. It was real eye opening. Our Awana commander read the Mayflower Compact for councle time a few weeks ago and I bearly recognized it. Please read below and see if this is what you remember from you high school history.
IN THE name of God, Amen.
We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread sovereign Lord, King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France and Ireland king, defender of the faith, etc., having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honor of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the Northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God, and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience.
In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape-Cod the 11 of November, in the year of the reign of our sovereign lord, King James, of England, France, and Ireland the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Anno Domine 1620.
Is this what you remember from high school. I do not remember any references to God in my text book and that was 30 years ago. Think what it is like in todays text book where they are hostel to God. This helps explain why we are no longer a Christian nation because we have allow the government to take God out of our schools and text books. Back when this country started we used the Bible as sources for our letters for our little ones and then the Bible became there reader. How far we have fellen from the Bible being the center of education to not even allowing God in the school building.
Now take a look at the Mayflower Compact it starts with a prayer. This is has been hidden from us. Just as we start a meeting with a pray the Pligrams start one of there most important documents with prayer. It is meant so that who ever reads the document that they pray first. I love this idea I have never though of this before. No wander this document is so important people have prayed over it for four hundred years. And now we know why they want to hide this from us.
The other thing I love about this document is it tells us that Prigrams were coming here to spread Christianity. Yes America was a mission field for them. The Pilgrams mention this as the reason for coming to America over what we are more traditional taught that they came here because of religious presuacution. It is well documented that the Pligrams were presucuted in England and had concerns about there children becoming more Dutch than they were English. But, They give the reason for coming to America as advancement of the Christian faith. The one thing God ask us to do “ 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” I love this document because it shows the Pilgrams true Christian faith.
