Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice. Isaiah 59:15
When a nation says there is no truthÖthey open themselves up to lies and distortions. Anyone who has watched the political scene lately can attest to this. Lies become truth, and truth become a lie. There is no truth in us.
What happens to those who love the Lord and believe in truth, when a nation embraces lies? Those people become targets or enemies of the state. They will be exposed and they will be hunted down. For the truth exposes the lies, that those who lie want us to believe are truths.
Sound confusing? It is confusing. When so many lies get told, itís difficult to distinguish between the truth and the lie. Especially, if people do not know Godís Word.
Today, the true enemies of the state are not terrorists or other outside influences. No, the true enemies are those who believe in the truth and follow Christ or live moral lives. These are the true enemies of a state that loses sight of the truth.
You see, for the most part Americans have embraced relativism. Studies demonstrate that most people in America do not embrace the concept of absolute truth. Personal truth is dangerous. By itís very definition personal truth, based on relativism is a lie, because truth is universal. Itís not personal, nor is it based on oneís own beliefs. We cannot create truth. We can only follow truth. Truth is what it is. Once a nation does away with truth, as we have done, the only thing left is for Christians who believe in truth to watch their backside. They will become enemies of the state.
And what does the Lord think about this? It displeases Him that there is no justice. You see justice can only take place when good laws and honesty prevail. Without these, there is no justice. And without the idea our rights come from God, well the alternative is horrifying. Show me a nation where rights come from man and the truth is relative and Iíll show you another Nazi Germany, China, Soviet Union or Cuba.
Manís ways lead to destruction of liberty and human life. Those who embrace manís ways embrace evil. Leaders who believe this way design bills that fly against liberty, life and the pursuit of happiness. Happiness comes when people are free to live and serve and worship their Creator.
So, when manís ways rule you get death, the breakdown of marriage, stifling laws that remove personal freedoms and a nation that no longer believes a citizen's rights come from God. Lack of justice gives our nation judges who rule against the law and try to create law. They legislate from the bench and deny justice to those who serve the Lord.
This is the nation we're about to inherit. We only have a taste of it and it sickens those who believe in the Lord. But all we can do is point fingers at ourselves. Weíve allowed this to happen. When Barna studies show so few Christians believe in absolute truth, we have to wonder what might have been if our own had not embraced the lie and instead, stood their ground, based on truth.
And as for the Lord, if we cannot believe in truth, then how can we or anyone else, believe in a Savior or trust Godís Word?
When a nation loses sight of God a nationís sins are as follows: ďrebellion and treachery against the LORD, turning our backs on our God, fomenting oppression and revolt, uttering lies our hearts have conceivedĒ (Isa. 59:13).
