TITLE: Awakening By Pam Williams 11/29/04 |

But I sense my mind
Climb to the surface
And into the stillness
Of my bedroom.
The night has been long
And dense with daggers
Whipping through the wind,
Tearing at my dreams.
Suddenly,
Light from the sunrise
Overflows into my window.
Red and pink rays
Push shadows against the wall.
Pale and thin branches
Scratch bitterly at the clouds
But promises of spring
Bud along its bark
The way promises of peace
Bud along this day.
The covers around my nose
Roll back as I rise
And I hear the sparrow’s song.
It’s claws cling to the fence
As its shrill cracks open the silence
And sends nightmares running.
I stretch
And my hands touch
A new beginning.
Every strand of my being
Rejoices because God
Invites me into the joy
Of another blessed day.
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24
