TITLE: "I will give you rest" By Tonya Keller 06/16/04 |

Each day I found myself searching for what seemed absent in my life, however I tended to look in all the wrong places. I was troubled, and I never felt at rest. While walking through a crowded town, people hustling to get to their destinations on time, a gentle ringing sound reached my ears. Its melody tinkled a serene tone that put my heart to ease.
I yearned for tranquility in the torn world I lived, and as I sought the beautiful sound about me, a dove gracefully hovered near. I broke through the bustle of the crowd and there within my sight, a glorious church stood with its bells ringing a humbling cry.
Placing my hand over my heart in complete awe as I stood there and stared, an old faint remembrance flickered inside of me. And the memory flitted forward as if blown by the gentle breeze, lifting my eyes to the sky. Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” And from that day onward, I didn’t hide the promise in my heart, I lived in it each day. Praise the Lord for promises. Pure promises for me of peace and rest.
