TITLE: Hunger By Rae Coleman 11/12/04 |

My eyes are weary and my heart grows faint – and I just can't for the life of me figure out why my existence is failing. Until that passing moment that dawn fell upon me, and whispered in my ear, that I am overwhelmed and battered by that which was designed to protect me. I was afraid to face it, for its strength intimidated me, and my flesh assumed that it came to bring me harm. I did not know that it wore the garment of my lifeline. It came to save me. My hunger.
I am hungry for the profound and intense satisfaction of a need unmet. Knowing I was predestined to desire, predetermined to wonder, and designed to need. And yet I am perplexed, and I’ll tell you why. The need had been fully clothed and in disguise - masquerading and at times camouflaged in excessiveness and worldly natured whims.
Naiveté has tricked me into believing I need life, when ultimately I need the Father - For he is my rock and my fortress. He is the reason I breathe and move about. He is the reason for my joy and my lack of knowledge of His ways is the reason for my pain.
And life? Life is just a reminder of how inadequate and feeble we all are in our desperate and futile attempts to satisfy our own and each other’s … hunger.
Knowing it is as close as a whisper away, and as far as my mind can wander.
My recompense – my fulfillment – the path that leads to the commencement of the intense and burning desire to know Him and to love Him. My Hunger.
