TITLE: New Love Brings Laughter By James Welch 10/18/04 |

There was this tiny village, below a tiny hill, a quiet tiny village where the wind stood very still
It was in this humble village, that I dozed about half awake, nearly fishing, mostly sleeping, along side a humble lake
Now there came down the roadside, making such an awful din, a creaking lumbering carriage with the driver drinking gin
And in the back of the squeaking carriage, almost past before I spied, a plump but beauteous maiden laying on her pompus side, a pompus beateous maiden, in the back she did ride
Well maybe it was luck or something, that followed me that day, the carriage wheel fell broken, along the road it lay
It must have been luck or something which caused the wheel to stall, the maiden could tell and lt out a yell as the wheel began to fall
Now I'm a man you must understand, but as it happen before my eye, I took it in, turned around again and let out a vicious...sigh
What happened next, I cannot tell, I was wrestling a two-inch fish, a spunky, daring, fighting thing, dashing darting...swish
By chance I turned and I admit, it really puzzled me, by chance I saw the driver gone, almost too far to see
Turning to my other side, oh the wonders of will, to my surprise, I must surmise, the maiden sat there still!!!
With the driver gone on his own, I guess he knew he'd win, thus staggering toard the horizon he went, merrily downing gin
And so it was on the plains of Doshier, that my true love came to me, that rugged, rugged plains of Doshier which walked along the sea
And my true love brought laughter to my heart, now I have a fishing buddy and pray we never part.
