TITLE: The Rising Passage

He had read more than once the term “an incredible lightness of being” and never understood what it meant until now.
He moved forward, propelled more by a rising of his spirit than any familiar locomotion. The whole process was dreamlike, yet his heart was pierced by incredible emotions more intense than anything, fear, love or anger, he had ever felt. The overwhelming emotions were joy and peace.
A faint noise rose as from a distance. He tentatively identified it as applause, and became more certain. The sound rose slowly with a crescendo like pounding surf as you drew near the coast.
Soon, the clapping was like close continuous thunder, yet it was exhilarating, not deafening and painful. What he felt soared to new inexpressible heights, yet he somehow sensed these were to become normal sensations.
He realized that a former existence was passing behind him; a new life was approaching, and he could not even imagine what it would be. A voice whispered inside that he was coming to be that for which he had been created.
In the briefest of instants, he exploded through a brilliant white veil and graduated from death unto life.
The dreaminess evaporated and with supernatural clarity, he heard the cheering of angels and saw loved ones and heroes of the faith who had graduated before him gathered to welcome him – home.
