The following Sunday, everyone was gathered in the sanctuary, waiting for the preacher to come in. It wasn’t like him to be late. Several of the families from the restaurant were sitting in the back of the church, and their gasps were the loudest. In limped a man, smelling like alcohol, in torn and ripped clothes. The waitress looked over at the Deacon, telling him that this is what happens when you pay for someone’s meal, they start following you around. The man walked to the front of the church when the other deacons started standing up, started advancing towards him. He took of his jacket, took of the hat and wig he was wearing, and dropped them on the carpet. He took his place behind the pulpit, and turned to the congregation, starting his sermon with the statement, I have a Life Lesson to teach all of you. I went to the Diner last night for coffee and pie, ala mode of course, no whipped; I am watching my figure…
