My preparation was all in place.
As a Mother I had perspective
Not taught in college degree race.
I had a commitment to integrity;
An attentive encourager I was.
Being honorable, efficient and caring,
I was conscientious to this trusted cause.
I felt I could love them to learn
And in essence quite true that was.
The insistence to progress in learning
Was to them, and to me, a great cause.
There were disciplined lessons with reasoning
A most certain lifetime need.
I helped, reinforced and repeated
For young eyes and ears with less speed.
The Lord planned a right profession for me;
He graced me with skills I would need.
It worked in tandem with parenting
Giving guidance for learners to proceed.
(I was a parent of 3; an elementary teacher, an
elementary librarian, and Library Director.)
