THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
By Fay K. Richardson
A plan of Sabbath was needed for our best.
So our loving God commanded day of rest.
One day, set aside for our worship and praise
And rest each week, for all of our days.
This fourth commandment to meet special need
Was given in love as part of this creed.
“Remember the Sabbath – Holy to keep.”
Let it rest in your spirit even as you sleep.
These thoughtful life principles designed for best,
Came as God-given guidance in His “top ten” behest.
He loved us so tenderly, these rules were for gain
Intended to curb sting of sin’s rude harsh pain.
In Exodus 20, they’re profoundly clear,
Remember the other nine awaiting your ear.
It is prudent to learn and obey them each week
As eternity with Him we continuously seek.
