The sign on the door
Gone Fishing
Walking the streets night and day
Stopping to talk to those he meets
Handing out paper that in nice script
Inviting them to join him Sunday Morn
He approaches the homeless
The drunk and the doped
Sharing a few words
A few laughs and tears
He buys food for the hungry
Blankets for the cold
Leads children to shelters
Touching every soul
Everyone he meets
Hears love in his voice
As he reads them a sample
Of what could be for them
At home by the fire
His book in his hands
He prays to the Father
To pull in the harvest
Early Sunday morning
He walks out the door and down the road
Then stands in the pulpit
And speaks of the Lord
In the crowd below
The faces he sees
Are those he met
Out on the streets
On the door of his home
You will always see
A sign that says simply
“Gone Fishing, For the Lord”
