If you saw all these signs with your eyes, would it influence you? Would you have married that jerk, smoked that dope, swallowed that pill, guzzled that booze, compromised your integrity or your virtue, lied, cheated, stolen? Well, would you?
When you started down that treacherous path to the dark places, would a SIGN have stopped you? Lights flashing, sirens blowing, bells and whistles, skywriting, neon letters… would you have plowed ahead, oblivious to warnings? Let’s ponder on this for a spell. I have a message for you, my dear child.
No, don’t get out of that chair. Fear not. I have been dispatched to bring you a warning. Relax. Your attention to this matter is required. Your very LIFE depends on putting on ears that you may HEAR. Turn off the boom and blast. No distractions. LISTEN. This message is for YOU.
Okay, here’s the deal: Life is the woods. We’re going on a hike. You can choose to go barefoot and strike out in any direction, cut yourself, get thirsty, fall into Poison Ivey, be stalked by lions, and tigers and bears (oh my), be snake bait or fall in a pit.
The path you take is your choice. It will seem exciting at first. You will walk and run and stumble, but all the time you will be lost in circles of confusion. The path you most desire will feel good (oooh... and isn’t THAT important?)
Take heed my friend, your path leads deeper into the woods of compromise, straight to destruction. Why on earth would anyone want to be trapped in the eternal forest fire? You think you can leave a breadcrumb trail and find your way out by yourself. That is nonsense. There are skulking birds of prey lapping up those morsels as fast as you drop them.
Stop wiggling. This speech is not over. Now consider who made you. Put on your thinking cap. It is Ga… Ga…hey you know this. It is GOD. Very good. He has the perfect path for you to take. I mean the absolute, wonderful, amazing path of HIS choosing. It leads directly to His throne and eternal life in paradise.It is so simple. This is not rocket science. Just ask Him. Just ASK!
It is suggested you wear some sturdy hiking boots, carry supplies, be cautious, and keep your map handy. Like the wrong path, on the right path you will walk, run, and yes, even stumble.
The best part of this plan is, when those things happen, you have a guide who KNOWS the woods and can get you back on track, avoiding many pitfalls and dark caves. When you are lost, He shows you the way. His word is a lamp aimed right at your feet. Just keep walking with your hand in his. You are safe. You are saved.
When you hear an eerie question in the night, “who, who?” You can respond “Me, me…and JESUS, JESUS.”
Okay, speech over. You may be on your way.
Wait! One more admonition please. Many of those paths you are longing to choose have names: Primrose is a popular one. Also, Path of Least Resistance ranks right up there in stupid, blind, sheep- following order.
Stand up on the inside of yourself and opt for the CHOSEN path. You will never be sorry. Would I lead you astray?
The Lord sends his unconditional love and support. Don’t let him down. Suit up. Move those feet. Hup, two-three- four.
