So many days, so many years
And I have lived them all
Is this the day, when I will see
The final curtain fall?
The years have carved their lines on me
My bones grow frail and weak
Your Temple I have made my home
Your presence I will seek

So many prayers I've whispered here
So many tears I've cried
I've mourned the loss of precious faith
The vibrant life that's died
Empty hearts and lifeless souls
Drift through these courts today
Is this the day You intervene
And blow the veil away?

So many songs I've sung to You
My heart has not been stilled
And as I've lifted up my voice
With praise this place I've filled
Is this the day, You leave Your throne
To come and dance awhile?
The day I feel Your soft embrace
And bask beneath Your smile?

So many faces I have searched
Your promise fills my mind
That You will make Your home with man
Your presence we will find
Is this the day that we will know
Forgiveness deep and wide?
Abundant joy that bubbles up
A place close by Your side?

Oh Lord, it's true, You're here today
I scarce believe it's so
Clothed in fragile flesh you've come
Don't ask me how I know
I gaze into Your eyes that see
What was and what will be
An final end to sin's foul curse
The joy of lives set free

This is beautiful on so many levels--I read it as a prayer from a contempory woman, then when I saw the Scripture, there was a wonderful aha! moment. It works--and beautifully--both ways. Bravo!

Oh, I do so love good poetry, and this rings like a bell! My favorite lines, the years carving their lines on me and eyes that see what was and what will be, are exquisite. And it is so reader friendly, I can imagine a parent reading this to a child, and the child getting the message. Another addition to my "favorites!" Thank you.
