When we believe in what Christ did on Calvary, we pass from death unto life and become a new creation in Him. The Bible tells us that in Christ there is no condemnation. Therefore, we are no longer guilty but become the righteousness of God.
Henceforth we live no longer for ourselves, but for Him, and in Him we move and have our being, for we walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. It is a walk of faith, depending on God and trusting in His promises under the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit.
Here in Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV), “the fruit of the Spirit.” A life led by God will produce these characteristic traits:
•Love: Love for God and selfless, unconditional care for others.
•Joy: Joy in the Lord with a deep, stable inner contentment regardless of the outer circumstances.
•Peace: The peace of God beyond human understanding. Freedom from worry and strife, or inner turmoil.
•Longsuffering: Wait on the Lord and be of good cheer. Endurance and mercy when dealing with difficult people or trials.
•Kindness: God is kind to all. A gentle and helpful attitude toward others.
•Goodness: The goodness of the Lord leads to repentance. Doing good deeds to others.
•Faithfulness: He is faithful to His promises. Loyalty and reliability in commitments and trust.
•Gentleness: A meek and quiet spirit is of great value. Humility and mildness in tone, words and demeanour.
•Self-control: Temperance, the power to master impulses and resist selfish temptations.
Thus, with these characteristics, we bring our body under subjection to the Word of God and fulfill the scripture Romans 8:1 (NKJV), “There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
