Oh how I craved
an answer.
I began my search.
At my parents’ church.
But I was left in the lurch.
With no answer
My nightly prayers
Didn’t go past my room’s ceiling
Leaving me reeling
From confusion
Good deeds
Meeting others' needs
Left my heart aching
Left my heart breaking
As it all felt so empty.
My righteousness filthy rags.
As I carried around my bags
Of guilt and shame
as I bore the name
of sinner
How could I ever be a winner
At this game of life
As the strife
tore apart, my heart
The answer led me to the cross
where Jesus’ loss.
Was my gain.
The pain
He endured.
Has cured.
My sin.
And now I can win.
As I died
To the pride
Inside
my heart.
So the healing could start
I asked Jesus into my heart
And that was a start
Of a life with him
My precious Lord
My Savior, my King
My everything
My Savior my Lord
Oh now I’m on board.
I have found the answer I craved.
And rejoice that I’m saved.
