I was deeply concerned, and I thought, "What should I do?" Mickey and I were very close, and I didn't want her to die without seeing and hugging her, letting her know how much I love her, and encouraging her in the Lord. But when I suggested to her son that I would come to see her, he kept telling me to hold on, and that bothered me, so I booked my ticket to travel on January 15, 2026, to Guyana, where my sister lives, to see her without telling him beforehand.
In Canada, where I live in Toronto, there was a heavy snowstorm that day, but I was determined to take that flight. Thank God my flight was nonstop to Guyana, my country of birth.
The flight was delayed that day due to the storm, so it departed on the evening of January 15, 2026. It was a stormy journey, both physically and spiritually, but I made it through and landed safely in Guyana early in the morning of January 16, 2026. Later that day, I visited my sister. I was so happy that she recognized me. It was such a wonderful reunion. We cried, hugged each other, expressed our love, and thanked God for bringing us together again. As I recall, it was a memorable moment for me.
The last time I saw her was in 2017, and so much has happened in both our lives since then. I spent eight days in Guyana, and during that time, her health improved. We had a wonderful time together, giving God thanks for bringing me to Guyana safely and keeping her alive for me to see, talk and laugh with her. It was a phenomenal trip.
Mickey is still alive and well. She is no longer fully alert, but by the grace of God, she is hanging in there. Before her illness, she was mentally sharp, served as a lecturer for teachers and was a writer in the field of education.
I thank God that I went and accomplished the purpose
Mickey is our parents' first child. She will be 81 years of age on June 30, 2026, and I am the last child.
I can boldly say that the Word of God in Deuteronomy 31:1 (NKJV) became a reality in my life on that trip: "And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed."
And He was faithful to the end as He had promised.

It was almost as if the Holy Spirit was tugging on your heart to uplift your sister when she really needed you.
