God sent his Son to earth to live
As Man – a Teacher, a Healer, a Prophet,
And a Shepherd to His flock.
It was God’s plan for Jesus
To die a cruel death upon the cross
So that His blood might
Make us free from sin.
Not a little bit or a half,
Not mostly or a great deal,
But completely, wholly, all,
Does Jesus forgive our sins
When we repent of them
And ask Him into our hearts.
He died in acceptance
Of His Father’s will,
And in accordance with
His own great love for mankind.
Not just a little way away
Of somewhat at a distance,
Does He remove our sin,
But as far as the east is from the west.
Not only does God send sin
An incomprehensible distance,
But even greater, Jesus’ blood
Makes atonement for all sin,
Thereby restoring us into fellowship
With the Father, just as God planned
Before the creation of the world.
Because of Jesus’ atonement,
And His resurrection,
We can be assured of God’s promise
O eternity with Him in heaven.
