Let us reflect on the harrowing events of that day, the day that will change our lives forever.
As they led Him to Calvary's cross, they beat Him and spat upon Him. He endured the cruelty of His captors, like a lamb led to slaughter. He was the Lamb of God, who bore the weight of our sins, enduring the most brutal of treatments.
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 53: 5 (NKJV), "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities...."
As He hung on the cross, darkness filled the earth. And when He drew His last breath, He cried with a loud voice, "It is Finished." And thunder and lightning covered the earth. The veil between man and God was rent in twain, and Jesus completed God's work of redemption.
He paid the ultimate price for our sins. He destroyed the works of the devil, and we could go free. But we must believe in the power of the cross and accept Jesus into our hearts, and that will free us from the power of the enemy.
