Announced that she was finished.
With brilliant colorful display,
Her light was then diminished.
Sometimes she’d struggled to be seen
Through clouds of gray or white
While sheets of driving rain would try
To keep her out of sight.
Her rays she sent both far and wide
On land and sea, the same.
She ran her course through all the earth
And had no cause for shame.
When sun’s light was completely gone,
Another light appeared.
The moon came in to take her place,
And hosts of stars appeared.
The moon continued as had sun
To fill the world with light.
Though God named moon “the lesser.one,”
She’d strive throughout the night.
Just like the sun and moon are part
Of all God has created.
We humans, too, were given work
In plans he advocated.
Then He gave gifts to execute
All He asked us to do,
And we, His people, will be judged
On what we carried through.
