Who helps me withstand
The temptations of this world
But sometimes the time has come
When I need to run!
And I need to run fast!
Away from the distractions
Away from the factions
That fight and fuss
And are so destructive to us
I could linger
And point a finger
At what they’re doing wrong
But next thing you know
I find I have to go!
Before they pull me in
To what God’s convinced me is sin
When I feel a dangerous lure
There is only one cure
That’s worked for me
And that is to flee!
Far from them I need to go
And THEN I can take it slow
As I spend time with the one
My beloved God’s Son
To Him I cling fast
And this peace
I know will last
When to stand
And when to run?
God is your guide
He’s fast to your side
He will tell you when
And what sin
To flee
Or stand and fight
You’ll do what’s right
Clinging fast to Jesus.
