Topic: Present - Repents - Serpent (07/17/25)
He was just six, our sweet little boy, and he was firmly convinced that if he had a pair of PF Flyers, he could run like the wind, never touching the ground. The commercial that had caught his attention promised that if he had these tennis shoes, he would run faster and jump higher than ever before, and what’s more, along with the shoes, he would get a magic ring to take on many thrilling adventures.

We bought them for him as a present.The gleam in his eyes was brighter than the shining magic ring he put on his finger and waved all around. He took his school shoes off, kicking them aside so he could slip his feet into these magical shoes and lace them up. He hurried to the back yard to show us the new speed that he now possessed. The joy on his face as he ran “almost” like the wind was more than worth the cost of the shoes. My husband and I looked at each other and smiled at His joy.

Jesus said that our Father in heaven loves, even more than we do, to give good gifts to His children who ask. He gave His only Son for our salvation, and He offers new mercies every morning. I think God must smile to see our joy in receiving His gifts.

This reminds me of how Jesus would use parables for us to understand God. What a beautiful example to show a Father giving good gifts.

Such a wonderful memory! It's such a blessing as parents to enjoy giving gifts that produce such joy! It's good to remember that trait of our loving, generous giving Heavenly Father.
