In her secluded situation,
Standing alone day after day,
Clad in a robe of rock,
Or does she get tired sometimes
And wish she could lie down?
Is she irritated by the rain
That pounds when it washes her face?
Does she feel a need for cover,
Like some of her sister crags have,
To protect her from rays of the sun?
Does she find beauty in the vison
Of her moving reflection
In the rollicking waves of the sea
Shining beside her feet,
Or the colorful display in the sky
As night and day trade places?
Does she take pleasure in the music
Of the waterfalls singing over her
And long to join them in song?
Does she feel pain
When a landslide of rocks
Tumbles down her steep side?
Does she have any concern that
Falling over her edge
May bring harm or even death
To a living creature that comes too close?
Does she ever give thanks to the One
Who made her and, as well as the weather,
That has changed her image
Year by year?
