So much to do
And there my Bible sits
Morning devotion?
Time with the Lord?
Of course with devotions
I’m always on board
But…
I have no time to feast on the Word
After all I’m going to church
It’s not as if I’m leaving
God in the lurch
I’ll hear the word
When I hear the sermon
I don’t need my morning devotion
I’ll wait for the sermon
For my biblical nutrition
Let’s call it a Bible brunch
I’m going to hear a Christian speaker tonight
So I’ll skip my devotions
Won’t that be all right?
Let’s call it a Bible brunch
But is it still brunch when it’s at night?
Somehow, that doesn't seem quite right
Is it lupper
Or maybe it’s linner
Either new word
Doesn't seem like a winner
But somehow all of that seems lacking
As my conscience gives me a whacking
We are called to
Feast on God’s word
Not to eat like a bird
Unless, of course
That bird is an eagle
A bird most regal
Yes! I'll eat like that bird
As I feast on Your Word
God does call us to fast
but not from His word
That kind of fast would be absurd
And best of all
That feasting won't put on the pounds
Now that really sounds
Like an ideal
Meal
