Move across the sky above me,
Like a ball rolled by a little boy.
Suddenly the clouds began to darken,
And I heard a distant rumbling
That grew louder as it came closer.
Then thunder roared
From a giant megaphone,
And streaks of lightning
Zinged all around me.
As a curtain of rain
Dropped on my head and shoulders,
I rushed for shelter,
Where I continued to watch
The astounding display
Of God’s power in nature.
I was completely dumfounded.
I watched the morning sun
Slowly climb to her perch,
High in the heavens.
She scattered bits of gold
In all directions.
The ocean waves glittered
Like rarest jewels,
And the sand appeared to be
Tiniest bits of broken glass.
Little children with raised faces
Smiled back at the face of the sun.
Even the dog’s head
Wore a shining crown.
Only God had the power to
To design this scene.
I was completely dumfounded
The first time I held our newborn son,
There was no calculation of any kind
To measure the joy I found
In caressing the wee head,
Nestled so close to me,
And the wonder I felt
For what God had fashioned
So amazingly in my womb.
From His unimaginable power,
God gave this great gift
To my husband and me
As proof of our love
And His love for us.
I was completely dumfounded.
