Sweet little baby boy,
Dimpled and rosy in blue blanket,
His Teddy Bear cuddled beside him.
He looks so innocent, so peaceful,
Just like a little cherub,
But just you wait till he wakens!
A tiger, lurking within his tiny chest,
Will scream in full voice
As he jerks his little legs wildly
And demands his breakfast,
Right this minute.
There they are,
Squabbling children
With dirt-streaked faces.
They’ve spent the summer morning,
Running and screaming and crawling
Through all the muddy places
Thy could ferret out.
Now they gather,
A complaining flock of crows,
“Caw, cawing” for mom
To get their lunch, pronto.
There he is.
At eventide, comes husband
After a full day’s work.
From the rumblings
Of the hungry bear within,
He grumbles that he is starving,
And dinner is not on the table.
And then, there he is again,
The loudest of all in my jungle,
Baby boy.
