I am so hungry for justice. Where is the justice? So many double standards, so much suffering, so many blind eyes. It makes me so angry! I think I may actually be hangry for justice. But what good are our efforts.
I think of a story that Jesus told. Of a judge "who neither feared God nor cared what people thought." Luke 18:2 NIV. And of a widow who kept pestering the judge day and night for justice. I wonder what it would have been like to be that widow.
PUTS ON BIBLICAL HEADDRESS
I am so hungry for justice. My adversary has treated me so unjustly and unfairly. My only recourse is this judge that doesn't care about me, or anyone else. But I will not give up on him. So I have gone to him again and again and again. Nothing. Anger burns in my chest but I keep it there, controlled. I will not give up, I will not give in.
CALLS OUT
Judge! You must help me! My adversary has stolen from me. My adversary is laughing at me for he thinks I am a helpless old woman. But I come to you for justice. You must give me justice!
I hold my breath. Is he going to shake his head, turn his back and walk away as he has so many time before.. What am I hearing him mutter to his assistant?
LEANS HER HEAD TO THE LEFT AS IF EAVESDROPPING
Even though he does not fear God or care what people think, because I keep bothering him, he will see I get justice!
Now he’s saying because I keep bothering him, he will see that I get justice, so that I won’t eventually come and attack him!
It worked! I wore him out! CHUCKLES I think he might actually be frightened of me. Never underestimate the power of a persistent woman. My hunger for justice will be satisfied.
TAKES OFF HEADDRESS
That widow was hangry for justice. And through her persistence her hunger was satisfied. Jesus told that story to teach us that when we cry out for justice to God day and night, God will see we get justice.
Like the widow, we must do our part and be persistent. Never underestimate the power of a persistent woman or man with God on our side We will cry out to God for justice, and he will satisfy our hunger.
