Those days after Ezra read the word were beyond amazing. So much learning, so much repenting, so much growing.
The heart of Jehovah takes my breath away. Hearing our story told by the priests how Jehovah saved us again and again and again, and how we broke his laws and his heart again and again and again.
But He’s never given up on us. I have to repeat that again because it's so unlike us. When people let me down, after awhile I give up. But Jehovah has NEVER given up on us.
These days have been amazing. But we must remain strong, we cannot go back to Egypt. Oh I don't mean we would travel back to Egypt, but our hearts, our habits slowly drift away when we're not remaining strong.
We have no destination, and so we wander wander wander back to Egypt.
Some of you know what I'm talking about, or you know someone.
You thank God for saving you! But you don't let God make any changes in your life. You become weaker instead of stronger. Slowly, ever slowly, inch by inch, somehow you're back where you were! You have wandered, wandered, wandered back to Egypt.
I am no prophet. But if I were, I would stand on a hillside and plead with my people:
We must learn from the past
Or these changes will not last.
We must not turn back
We must not turn away
From the lessons that God has taught us today.
Don't go back to who you were before
Don't even open the door
Keep moving
Keep growing
In knowing
the Lord
We CANNOT go back to Egypt.
What was true for us
Is true for you
And so I echo my words to you
We must learn from the past
Or these changes will not last.
We must not turn back
We must not turn away
From the lessons that God has taught us today.
Don't go back to who you were before
Don't even open the door
Keep moving
Keep growing
In knowing
the Lord
We CANNOT go back to Egypt.
