open pit sewage
rotting food
heated dust
stuck
in olfactory sensors

molded fruit
spoiled meat
rancid air
there
on the tip of the tongue

no hope eyes
skeletal frames
filthy chaos
across
the viewed horizon
BODY poverty has a sound:
angry mobs
weeping child
bullets blast
past
violence filled ears

tense atmospheres
strained relationships
no safe
place
to rest

sulphurous fumes
stagnant growth
corrupted thoughts
rot
all goodness

bitter anger
unforgiveness
resentful spite
bites
away at hope

whitewashed exterior
crumbling interior
dead shark eyes
lie
to the world
SOUL poverty has a sound:
slithering sentiment
manipulative compliments
tickling words
lure
the innocent

a little off
weird but sweet
free but
stuck
in destructive cycles

sacrificial
incense fused
white lilies
fill
humble pathways

a little ashy
sweet and savoury
loss accepted
resurrected
desires refined

hand extended
open hearted
content for
others
to be first
SPIRIT poverty has a sound:
grateful prayers
praise filled songs
wholesome speech
teaches
humility
SPIRIT poverty has a feel:
broken yet beautiful
confident faith
paid the cost
lost
the need to know

Impactful write, so well written poetry.
May we all hear your words deep in our hearts.
I saw myself in Soul Poverty years ago. Now, I see myself holding my hand out, giving thanks to the Lord, and leaving a good taste in people's mouths.
God Bless~
