Would there be proof?
Or have I been too aloof
from my faith
Is that really persecution
Or just a condition
of life
It's full of strife
When people treat me harshly
because of my faith
I whine
even though it's fine
Compared to people's woes in other countries
Over there pastors are dying
Women are crying
As their husbands
die for their faith
Because of my faith
I may not get hired
Because of my faith
I may get fired
"Consider it pure joy"?
Is James trying to toy
with our emotions?
Persecution here may grow
But this I do know
Persecution is hard!
We cannot do it
Unless we have the Lord
bringing us through it
Jesus says fear not
And when we've got
Him
We can endure anything
Are we bold
To proclaim the gold
Found in God's word?
To bring God glory
Through our story
Makes persecution worthwhile
May it make God smile
With pride
