Is what we’re called to be
But that is not what
I always see
In my life
Something is missing
Something's not here
The problem persists
year after year
When I'm full of junk food
I have no desire
For things that are higher
But candy's so fun!
When depressed I run
to chocolate for comfort
instead of God's word
When my body is hungry
It doesn't work right
When my soul is hungry
My future's not bright
I can't be hungry for God
if I'm already full
of earthly pleasures
Or worldly treasures
Or full of me!
Oh now I see
When I'm hungry for my needs to be met
There is one thing I must never forget
The widow with the small oil and flour
Elijah called her to faith in a fateful hour
The meal never gave out
I want to give a shout
The oil kept on flowing
I want to keep going
to God
God knows we are hungry
God knows our need
To be really full
On Him we must feed
Lord, may I be like Mary
and at Your feet more often tarry
To hunger for You
More and more
to open the door
of a perpetual feast
with You
