I could not see its end or beginning
And on it was one tiny dot
And I heard God tell me
“When you feel overwhelmed
By the problems you've got
Just remember the rope
Just remember the dot.”
I learned that in a month
my job would be ending
And I began spending
My hours worrying
They were supposed to offer us all new jobs
So I wait and I wait
And my worries do not abate
in the silence
Will I have a job in a month
The clock is ticking
At times it feels
I'm taking a licking
In my soul
And then I remember the rope...
All the troubles I've got
Are only a dot
On God's eternal rope of time
And then other worries come flooding in
What about inflation
And the cost of gas
With these expenses
Will my money last?
and then I remember the rope

When I am depressed
And full of woe
It is so hard
to let worries go
and then I remember the rope
All the troubles I've got
Are only a dot
On God's eternal rope of time
God has promised
to hold us in His hand
even when troubles come
That we don't understand
And when all is said and done
And the battle has been won
We’ll spend our eternal days
in glorious never-ending praise
of Him
