“Have patience with me”
Was the first servant’s plea
And the master forgave his huge debt.
But the servant knew someone
With a debt so small
It was hardly a debt at all
Compared to what he’d been forgiven
“Pay me now!
Or so help me I vow
I will have you thrown into prison.”
“Have patience with me!”
The second servant echoed the plea
That the first servant had said
The other servants told the master
Of this unforgiveness disaster
And the master was filled with great rage
He demanded the first servant’s debt now must be paid
An impossible task that he now laid
Upon the ungrateful first servant.
God has forgiven us an incredible debt
And yet
We let
Ourselves refuse to forgive others
Their sins so small
Compared to all
That Jesus paid for our immeasurable debt
If we do not forgive
How can we live
In God’s favor
And enjoy the savor
Of the sweet aroma of His grace
And the smile on His face
As we forgive others
Our sisters and brothers
When we forgive from the heart
That’s when the healing will start
God will always offer us a second chance
And invite us to join Him in the forgiveness dance.
