DRAMA BEGINS WITH NORA LOOKING INTO THE MIRROR
Another day. Another day of emptiness. But then why not, after all, I am Nora NotEnough. It seems I am never enough. WALKS AWAY FROM MIRROR
My talent is so small. It seems so little compared to the big talents of others. I don’t want my little to be laughed into oblivion. So I’ll hide my talent Keep it safe. Keep me safe.
I bury my talent in a swamp of meaningless activities all leading everywhere and nowhere. I try to fill my emptiness with television and FaceBook but they only remind me of the more than enough talents of others.
So I switch the channel and try to switch off my mind.
PHONE RINGS
Hello. This is Nora. (PAUSE) You would like me to help out with the Easter preparations. You're asking...me? I'll think about it and let you know. Bye.
PUTS PHONE AWAY
The church secretary just asked me if I would be willing to help out in an area that actually might fit my tiny talent? I just don't know...
PACES
OFFSTAGE JESUS: Hello,my precious Elenora.
NORA: It’s Nora.
OFFSTAGE JESUS: I know your name, I know you. I should I formed you in your mother's womb. Don’t shortchange your name, don’t shortchange your identity. You are my precious Elenora. Elenora Enough.
That “not” was never part of your identity. You’ve been letting others define you.
NORA: But Lord, I don’t have enough courage
OFFSTAGE JESUS: In Me, you have enough
NORA: But Lord I don’t have enough talent
OFFSTAGE JESUS: For what I have called you to do, in Me you have enough talent
NORA: But Lord I am not enough (SAYS THE LAST FOUR WORDS SLOWLY AND EMPHATICALLY)
OFFSTAGE JESUS (tenderly): My precious Elenora, In me You are always Enough.
ELENORA LOOKS INTO THE MIRROR: (SAYS SLOWLY AND DISTINCTLY) My name is Elenora Enough. In Christ, I AM enough.
