A figure sprawled, by violence undone.
Robbed, beaten, left for vultures' cruel delight,
His moans unanswered in the fading light.
A priest, engrossed in sacred scrolls, passed by,
A Levite, burdened by ritual's tie,
Hurried on, their gaze averted cold,
No time for human stories yet untold.
Then, from the distance, came a lone Samarian,
One scorned and shunned, condemned by history's pen.
He saw the victim, heard his anguished plea,
And in his heart, compassion bloomed anew, free.
He dismounted, knelt with gentle touch,
Bound the wounds, soothed the pain so much.
Oil and wine, a tender, healing balm,
Brought solace to the storm-wracked, shattered form.
He lifted him, with strength born of empathy,
To the inn's embrace, a haven meant to be.
"Fear not," he whispered, "I will see you through,
Brotherhood found, not in blood, but what we do."
The sun dipped low, painting the desert red,
But in the hearts of two, a new light spread.
A testament to love that knows no bounds,
A single act, on sacred, shifting sands.
