I was at the appointed place a few minutes early, to be sure I was ahead of the bus. There was no sign of her yet. Then, when the estimated meeting time had passed, I began to feel a little impatient and became more so as the minutes grew. I wondered if she had seen a shop she wanted to visit or was chatting with a new friend.
Suddenly, I remembered that this was the mall, where some time ago, a young woman had been murdered, and I went into full panic mode. I began to walk quickly down the main hall of the mall, praying as I went and checking each entrance. My mind was in turmoil, till finally, I got to the opposite end, and there she was!
“Where have you been?” she asked. “I’ve been waiting here forever! I thought you must have gotten lost.” Whether it was my directions or her understanding, my “lost” daughter was found, and with a heart full of joy, I brought her home.
That must be how Jesus feels when He finds us in our lost condition, and He brings us home.
