Are really seeds
I’ve dropped my share
But did not know where--or care
Some I’ve had
Both good and bad
Took root on site without a fight
While wind blew others into flight
Half-slung words
Can fly like birds
And land on rocks or sand
With outcomes never planned
Sowing or reaping
Trashing or keeping
Scattered or measured
Hated or treasured
Why doesn’t it behoove us
Or certainly move us
To think before speaking
Or writing or tweaking
For words have real power
From sweetness to sour
Whether whispered or shouted
Burrowed then sprouted
One mouth and two ears
Means we need to switch gears
And strive to talk less
Unless to confess
News carelessly planted
When whispered or ranted
Like weeds will still grow
In soil we never should hoe
Sunshine and rain
Drought and fierce pain
Are parts of life’s farm
And love is the secret—but first do no harm!
Remember…
The WORD from God’s heart
Sown deep from the start
Yields a garden worth reaping
And off-shoots worth keeping!
