Who will the Lord show me tonight? Where in this city shall I go? He pondered this as he boxed the last pie and clocked out. Grabbing his small, but full pack he slung it on his shoulder and proceeded to his tethered ride.
He could feel the Lord leading him towards the bus station. In the shadowy entrance, he saw a collapsed bundle of cloth. He dismounted and reached out to see if it was human.
Lifting her head as if it weighed as much as a bowling ball, the woman peered out at him with sunken dark-rimmed eyes. He reached down to hand her a tract.
“Do you know Jesus?”
“Do you have a dollar?”
“Silver and gold I have not, but this is the gift of eternal life!”
“Leave me alone!”
He rose and started pedaling to his next stop. Near the Laundromat on the next corner, he saw a young man with a cigarette leaning against the building.
“Here, I have something for you!”
The boy’s excited look changed to a sullen one when he saw the tract.
“It’s the gift of life!”
“Do you call this living? If eternity is like this then no way do I want it.” A single glistening tear ran down his cheek.
“Just keep it. You may change your mind after you read it.”
Undeterred, the biker went on his way. He ended up near Wal-Mart and thought he might as well see who he could find.
A young couple stood outside talking. He went up to them and asked them if he could share Jesus with them.
The young man said, “Oh, my dad is a pastor!”
“Did he tell you that you need to be born again to inherit eternal life?” The couple looked at him astonished at his words. Did they never hear it from the pulpit?
He parked, locked his bike, and walked into the store. In one of the aisles, he encountered a family of five. He handed them a tract and continued. He circled back around and found the little girl reading the tract. She looked up to her father and he said to her, “I’ll be there and you may come, too.” His strength and determination evidenced his commitment.
He pedaled toward home and encountered eight more adults. His heart filled with love and gratitude to God for leading him along the path to the lost. He wondered who he would meet tomorrow.
“Father, into Your hands I commit these souls for Your salvation. This is what I live for.”
